My dear friend had her baby last night! I'm so excited for the Prestrud family, and little Courtney Jo. I'm always amazed about how God fashioned us to live inside our mother's womb, and then to draw our own breath. The process is so miraculous.
In seemingly unrelated events, this weekend our pastor gave a sermon about the Holy Spirit. (It's up for a few weeks at http://www.thedoor.org/ if you happen to be interested.) I have a varied background on teaching regarding the Holy Spirit, but was refreshed in my thinking about the topic. He likened the Holy Spirit to breath, calling the Holy Spirit "The Breath of Life". He talked about the Spirit of God being the breath that breathes life into what is dead, causing it to live. I've been challenged to think about those places in my life that are dead, places that need breath and life. Sometimes I tend to look at things from a deficiency mentality, as in "What in my life needs to be changed?" or "I have so far to go." I have found great hope in noticing that while those things have their place, they tend to bring about death for my spirit. I get bogged down in the mentality of not measuring up. I need to remember that Christ's death was not the end, and that the message of the resurrection is the message of hope and life.
We continue to notice his life in new ways every day. Thank you dear friends, for joining us on our journey.
