My dear friend Kara Jo "tagged" me. Here's what I came up with:
TEN YEARS AGO
John and I had just moved to the twin cities after a fabulous year in Hudson, WI. Our new apartment was in the Linden Hills neighborhood of Southwest Minneapolis. My friend Tracy was living with us in our 2 bedroom apartment. John and I walked to Turtle Bread, Caribou, the small grocery store, and around the lake often. I loved that location, but was lonely for our Hudson friends. We drove back to Hudson to meet with our dear friends often. I think that may have been around the time we started attending Solomon's Porch as well. I got my first teaching job at Calvary Memorial Christian School, and bought my first car from a dealership - our little Mazda.
MY TO DO LIST TODAY
1. Get ready by 7:30AM for the 3 kiddos I'm watching today. (A light day - hooray! Plus, I love these girlies!)
2. Get Zack's lunch packed; make sure he's showered and dressed; sign permission slip for field trip and send in money; write down a list of the goals we have for him for the year (requested by his teacher); make sure the snack is in the BACKPACK rather than the LUNCHBOX, or else he will eat his snack at lunchtime, and end up hungry at snacktime.
3. Make sure to drink my coffee before it gets cold!!!!!
4. Make breakfast for the crew.
5. Get all children ready with coats and shoes to walk Zack to the bus. (Trying to guess if the driver will be 10 minutes late, or 10 minutes early). Play at the bus stop (neighbor's driveway) for 15 min.
6. Clean up from breakfast and prepare the activity I have for the kids today (while the children play)- Making shape/texture/color books.
7. Lead "Music Time". Make note to self about how cute 2 year olds are when they're doing finger plays.
8. Remember (a couple hours before he comes) I agreed to watch a 6 month old for 4 hours. His grandmother arrives 45 minutes after we expected (10:45) so now she wants to be out 45 minutes later, he is teething, and I am informed he will not need to sleep or eat while at my house. (Guess that means no break for me today.)
9. Have snack and head outside.
10. Make sure nothing dangerous has been left out from our patio project that would harm a child.
11. Fix the trampoline net while carrying the 6 month old, who screams when set down.
12. Pick ripe tomatoes!!
13. Try to remember how to make lunch with a baby on hip without baby grabbing everything you're trying to do.
14. Feed children, clean up, read stories (usually my fave), change diapers and tuck in children with screaming 6 month old.
15. Entertain the 6 month old through my whole break. Gratefully hand back over to Grandma, remember how much I LOVE children over 1, and try to figure out how to politely decline the next time I'm asked to watch him.
16. Late, but still excited, start my "book" project with the girls. LOVE IT!
17. Clean up; change diapers; meet Zack off the bus; serve snack; gather all belongings of children; meet parents at pick up time, & show off projects.
18. Start dinner; do this blog; help with homework; serve & clean up from dinner; work on patio.
19. Call to have the kids read with John's mom. (She gets books from the library so she can read to the kids. They have the same book, so it's a live "book on tape" thing. We do it every week.)
20. Put the kids to bed - John's night out.
21. Do the BASICS to "recover" (unload dishwasher, fold laundry, pick up, etc.)
21. Friends are coming tomorrow, but I'm too pooped to clean up. Glad they don't mind ;-)
A SNACK I ENJOY
Caribou Drinks - The pumpkin one they have now is yummy, or Light White Raspberry
On the side - homemade pumpkin bars or soft ginger cookies from the local bakery. YUM!
THINGS I WOULD DO IF I WERE A MILLIONARE

OK, I'm tired after reading your to-do list. Shnikeys, girl!
Hey, will you tell me what your book project with the kiddos was? I need fresh ideas now that I'm home with my girlies all day!
Jen, The book was one of textures, shapes and colors. We collected all kinds of things around the house: fabrics, textured scrapbook papers, foams, riged cardboard, feathers, tin-foil, sequins, tree bark, sand paper, etc. We tried to make sure there were different colors too, and painted some of the objects. Then we cut the objects into different shapes. (We used a pipe cleaner for a "line") We used a hole punch and pipe cleaners to bind it. Then we labeled the pictures. (i.e. Pink, spongy, heart) Whatever words the girls came up with for how it felt, those were the texture words I used. I got them started with texture words the day before when we went around the house feeling different things and describing them. We also read some of those texture board books that have all the different words. The last step was to have them read their books to me.
Whew--busy day! And every day is like that, isn't it? Yowzahs! Miss you. Thanks for playing along; I enjoyed reading about you. :)
