Little B.,You just started your first day of preschool this week. You turned 4 in July, but for the first time on Monday, I was here watching other kiddos without you. I missed you, but I am so proud of you. You grinned from ear to ear as you hung up your backpack on the hook marked with your name, and found the nametag marked I-S-A-B-E-L-L-A. You waved a much quicker good-bye than I was ready for, and you were off. It's slowly starting to sink in for me that these years prior to "school age" are drawing to a close. You had a GREAT time, and I loved hearing all the details about preschool, which you were SO eager to tell me. You are so excited about the gym being right next to your classroom, and playing dollhouse with your friend. You loved walking to the big playground, and playing in the kitchen.
For your first day of preschool, you had to make a star collage to tell about yourself. You chose a green star, your favorite color. We worked on it together, you telling me which things to find. You wanted a picture of the Tetons from our family trip. You do love to hike and camp! We paged through and found one you liked that had you and your brother on it. We also found you a picture of Tiger Lilly and one with you and "Bitty Baby" since playing babies is your favorite. You wanted to include something to show your love of wearing dresses, and doing art. You found a castle sticker, since you love being a princess, and a mirror to show you love putting on make-up. So, maybe that's how you see yourself? A camping, hiking, family oriented, craft loving, nurturing, girly girl, animal lover? I'm good with that.
I hope you also see yourself as a precious friend of God's my sweet one. I hope you know the beautiful strong spirit inside you was put there for a reason. I pray you discover beautiful places to direct your passions and use your abilities. I pray that wherever life takes you, in all your new journeys to come, that you know you are loved and that I will be here.
I love you,
Mom

Do they really have to grow up?
Oh my goodness...me, too, with the tears. Oh the milestones. So bittersweet! Love you, Bella Girl!
